도라에몽은 후지코 F. 후지오에 의한 일본의 유년 만화, SF 만화이다. 쇼가쿠칸이 발행하고 있는 학년별 학습잡지와 월간 코로코로 코믹에서 연재되었다.22세기의 미래에서 온 고양이형 로봇 도라에몽과 공부도 운동도 못하고 무엇을 시켜도 얼빠진 초등학생 노비 노비타 (일본어: 野比のび太)의 일상생활을 그린 작품이다.극중에서 도라에몽은 (로봇임을 인식해야 하는 경우를 제외하고는) 로봇으로 취급 된 적이 거의 없고 보통의 인간 관계를 구축하고 있다.

본작에서 빼놓을 수 없는 요소이며 작품의 매력 중 하나인 것이 신기한 효력을 가진 수많은 아이템 「비밀도구」이다. 무대가 되는 시대는 기본적으로 현대의 일본이지만 도라에몽의 도구를 사용하여 외국이나 우주, 과거나 미래에도 왕래할 수 있다.미디어 믹스도 활발히 이루어지고 있다(도라에몽 파생 작품 참고). TV 애니메이션 방송 30년 이상 장수 프로그램이 되어 매년 봄에 공개하는 영화들도 꾸준한 사랑을 받고 계속 만들어지고 있다. 장난감을 비롯한 캐릭터 상품도 높은 인기를 자랑한다. 일본 국내의 경우 국민적인 인기가 있어, 작품과 등장인물이 일반 사회에 널리 알려지고 있다. 일본 국외에서도 본작은 잘 알려져 있으며 동아시아를 중심으로 높은 인기가 있다. 특히 영국. 인도 등 매우 인기 높은 만화다.

Awards for Doraemon include the Japan Cartoonists Association Award for excellence in 1973, the first Shogakukan Manga Award for children's manga in 1982, and the first Osamu Tezuka Culture Award in 1997. In March 2008 Japan's Foreign Ministry appointed Doraemon as the nation's first "anime ambassador." Ministry spokesman explained the novel decision as an attempt to help people in other countries understand Japanese anime better and to deepen their interest in Japanese culture. The Foreign Ministry action confirms that Doraemon has come to be considered a Japanese cultural icon. In India, its Hindi, Telugu, Tamil translation has been telecasted, where the anime version is the highest-rated kids' show; it won the best Kids' Show award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards India.
 In 2002 the anime character was acclaimed as an "Asian Hero" in a special feature survey conducted by Time Asia magazine. An edited English dub distributed by TV Asahi aired on Disney XD in the United States that started on July 7, 2014. On August 17, 2015, the series began broadcast by Boomerang UK. The film series is the largest by number of admissions in Japan.
