수저론은 자주 사용되고 있는 사회 이론이다. 영어 표현인 '은수저를 물고 태어나다.'(born with a silver spoon in one's mouth)에서 유래한 것이며, 유럽 귀족층에서 은식기를 사용하고, 태어나자마자 유모가 젖을 은수저로 먹이던 풍습을 빗댄 말이다. 태어나자마자 부모의 직업, 경제력 등으로 본인의 수저가 결정된다라는 이론이다. 하녀들이 은식기로 아이를 돌보았기 때문에 비롯된 실버스푼이다. -금수푼은 없는 말.
