er joined Sinwa in January 2012 as Sales and Marketing Director. Before this, he was Managing Director of the German Ship Supply company HMS Far East Pte Ltd in Singapore, which he helped to grow over a period of 4 years. Having lived in Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and Australia and having had regional responsibilities including Southeast Asia, China, Indian and Australia, he is well equipped to help us expand an grow our scope and customer base in the important areas of commercial shipping for both technical supplies or services and provision and catering matters.
Before his entry into the shipping world, Peter spent seven years in a key managing role of a German trading company with sales and supply chain responsibilities, after which he spent 10 years in a plastic processing company for the furniture industry, setting up regional operations with own offices in Asian Pacific key markets and establishing and managing two manufacturing outfits. Key accounting and operational responsibilities with change management were always in the centre of his activities.
12시 30분 약속을 위하여 묶는 호텔에서 택시로 5분 거리인 레벨 33층을 향해 갔다. 이런 저런 이유로 9년이 지났다. 늘 페북에서 모든 것을 보고 있었으므로 낯설지는 않았지만 역시 가는 세월은 막을 수가 없는가 보다. 그곳은 파이낸셜 건물로 많은 외국인이 바쁘게 움직이는 곳이며 레벨 33층 레스토랑은 직접 생맥주를 만드는 동 탱크를 가지고 있는 이색적인 곳이며 피터와 사장이 친구라고 한다.
친구란 어떤 관계일까.
서로 간의 숨김도 이해관계도 없으며 바라는 것도 없는 클리어한 관계다. 친구란 믿음의 바탕에서 오랫동안 신뢰 관계가 있기 때문에 만나지 않아도 잘 되길 바라는 마음, 언제 어디서 만나도 늘 같은 마음으로 인사하는 사이가 바로 친구다.
우리가 앞으로 다시 만날지는 모르지만, 세월이 더 많이 흘러도 늘 같은 마음일 것이다. 정직하고 성실한 친구 피터와의 싱가포르에서 만남 그렇게 끝났지만, 서로가 높은 곳을 지향하는 목표는 같다고 생각된다. 진심으로 그가 잘 되기를 바라는 마음을 뒤로한 채.
변했다면 세월의 시간 속에 빠르게 움직이고 있으며 변하지 않았다면 기억의 저편 시간이 지나간 자리를 기억하고 있다는 것이다. 이 두 가지는 늘 같이 움직이고 있어서 정지란 없다고 본다. 그래서 더욱 아이러니하게도 잡을 수 없는 시간, 잡고 있는 과거를 동시에 느끼고 있다는 점이다.
