대사는 루마니아 외교관으로 1980 ∼ 90 년대에 베이징과 도쿄에 근무, 2000 년부터 10년 동안 대한민국과 중국 대사를 역임한 사람이다. 유럽 연합 (EU)에서 아시아와의 연계를 담당 하 고 있었다. 지난 몇 년 동안 아시아를 포함한  외교를 습득했다.

공정한 거래는 물론 중요 하지만 그것보다 협력 관계를 강화해야 한다는  바이라테르 측면의 관계를 넘어, 국제 사회에서 더 깊고 넓은 협력을 위한 이란 측면으로  대사는 자유 무역을 기둥으로 하는 일본과 유럽 경제 협력 뿐만  아니라 외교와 안보 측면에서 연계 추진이 중요 해질 것으로 말했다.

테러 위협, 중동 · 아프리카 정세 안개, 고령 화, 기후 변화, 세계가 직면한 문제에 각각 대응하는 것 만으로는 부족하며 일본과 유럽의  공동 작업이 필수라고. 온 힘으로 피력했다.

"Commerce is important, of course, but it is not limited to cooperation," and "we aim at deeper and wider cooperation in the international community beyond the bilateral relationship." The ambassador complained that in addition to the economic partnership between Europe and the free trade pillar, it would be important to promote diplomatic and security cooperation.

The threat of terrorism, the turmoil, aging and climate change in the Middle East and Africa situation.... "It is not enough to respond to the problems facing the world. Collaboration between Europe and the EU is indispensable. " This message was the most powerful in the interview.

大使はルーマニアの外交官として１９８０～90年代に北京と東京に在勤し、２０００年から10年あまりの間、韓国と中国の大使を歴任した人だ。欧州連合（ＥＵ）でもアジアとの連携を担当していた。長年、アジアとかかわってきた外交官は、実に能弁であった。

 

「通商はもちろん重要だが、それにとどまらない協力関係に高めていく」「バイラテラルの関係を超えて、国際社会の中で、より深く広い連携をめざす」。大使は自由貿易を柱とする日欧の経済連携に加えて、外交や安全保障面での連携推進が重要になると訴えた。

 

テロの脅威、中東・アフリカ情勢の混迷、高齢化、気候変動……。「世界が直面する問題に、それぞれが対応するだけではダメ。日欧のコラボレーションが不可欠だ」。会見で最も力を込めたのは、このメッセージだろう。

 

東アジアの現状をどう見るか、20年前と比べて日本はどう変わったか。一連の質問には、「日中韓の安定した関係がなければ、将来の繁栄は難しい」と指摘しつつ、「日本はより多角的な枠組みの中で対外的な協力を拡大し、チームプレーヤーとして力を発揮している印象だ」と、日本の国際貢献を肯定的に評価して答えた。
