핼러윈 데이 너무 조용한 몰타

일본이나 미국은 헬러윈데이 너무나 많은 행사가 있다.

그러나 몰타는 너무도 조용하고 심심했다.

거리 축제도 없으며 가면 무도회도 없다.

 

할로윈은 10월 31일에 삼하인(Samhain)의 역사적인 게일 축제와 일치하기 때문에 기념된다.

할로윈의 기원으로 알려진 삼하인(Samhain)의 게일 축제는

추분과 동지 사이에 있는 추수 시즌의 끝과 겨울의 시작을 알렸다.

계절은 이맘때 바뀌지만, 더욱 중요한 것은 관찰자들은

현세와 내세 사이의 장막이 유난히 얇아서 죽은 자와 소통할 수 있다고 생각했다는 것이다.

 

 

다른 외국 관습과 마찬가지로 몰타 관습에 완전히 동화되는 것은 시간 문제다.

트릭 오어 트릿(trick-or-treating)부터 유령의 집 체험, 심지어 으스스한 의상까지,

이 전통에 참여하는 사람들의 수가 계속해서 늘어나고 있다.

이제 주머니에 사탕 한 줌을 넣고 무엇을 입을지 찾아보고

불길한 경험을 할 준비를 해야 할 때인 것 같다. 

하지만 그리 크게 파티를 열거나 동요되지 않은 나라 같다. 

 

 

Halloween is celebrated on 31 October since this date coincides

 with the historic Gaelic feast of Samhain. Recognised as the origin of Halloween

, the Gaelic feast of Samhain signalled the end of the harvest season 

and the start of winter, lying right between the autumnal equinox 

and the winter solstice. Seasons changed at this time of year, 

but more significantly, observers thought the veil between 

this world and the hereafter was exceptionally thin 

at this time, allowing them to communicate with the dead.

 

Like other foreign customs, it is only a matter of time before 

it is fully assimilated into Maltese practices. 

The number of people participating in this tradition is ever-growing, 

from trick-or-reating to haunted house experiences,

and even spooky costumes.

I guess now it’s time to shove a handful of candy in your pockets,

look for what to wear, and get in gear to have one sinister experience!

歴史的なゲール語の祭りサムハインと同じ日だからです。

ハロウィーンの起源として知られるゲール語のサムハイン祭は、

秋分点と冬至の間の収穫期の終わりと冬の始まりを示しました。

この時期には季節が変わりますが、それよりも重要なことは、

観察者たちは、この世とあの世の間のベールが異常に薄く、

死者とのコミュニケーションを可能にしていると信じていたことです。

 

 

他の外国の習慣と同様、マルタの習慣が完全に吸収されるのも時間の問題です。

トリック・オア・トリートからお化け屋敷体験、

さらには不気味な衣装まで、この伝統に参加する人の数は増え続けています。

ポケットに一掴みのキャンディーを入れて、何を着るか考えて、

不吉な体験に備える時期が来たようです。
