쿠바의 문제

60년간 미국과 단절한 쿠바가 현재는 어떠한가.

최근 쿠바에서의 시위는 서부 언론에서 격렬하고 편견이 없는 보도를 받았다

이 시기에 식량, 의약품, 전력 공급이 매우 심각하게 부족하여

쿠바 국민들에게 진정한 고통을 주고 있는 것은 분명하다.

그러나, 이 비상사태는 진행중인 잔인한 미국의 봉쇄의 누적 효과에 의해

야기된 것이 분명하다.,최근 바이든 대통령이 재선거 공약에도 불구하고

그대로 방치한 트럼프 행정부의 243건의 제재 조치로 악화됐다.

미국 봉쇄는 이제 60년 개입 역사에서 어느 때보다도 심각하고

미국의 작은 카리브해 이웃을 지배하려는 시도를 결정했다.
현재, 전 세계의 많은 나라들과 마찬가지로,

COVID-19 대유행은 자원을 한계까지 확장시켰고,

인구 전체에 경보등이 켜졌다.

 

쿠바의 경우, 국제 관광이 완전히 중단되어

Recent protests in Cuba have received intense and not unbiased coverage

 in western media. It is clear that there are very serious shortages of food, 

medicine and power supplies at this time causing 

real suffering for the Cuban people.

However, it is also clear that this emergency has been caused 

by the cumulative effects of the ongoing and cruel US blockade.

 These have been recently worsened by the additional 243 sanctions imposed 

by the Trump administration which have been left in place 

by President Biden, despite his pre-election promises to revisit them. 

The US Blockade is now more severe than at any time in the 60-year history of interventions and determined attempts 

by the US to dominate its small Caribbean neighbour.

Now, as in many countries across the globe, 

the COVID-19 pandemic has stretched resources to

 the limit and caused alarm across populations. 

 

In Cuba’s case, the effect on the economy has been devastating

 as the situation has been compounded with international tourism

 having been completely suspended, cutting off much needed hard currency revenues.

 welcome genuine efforts to support the Cuban people

 at this time, such as the Mexican Government’s recent shipments of medical 

and food aid, and the efforts of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign including 

their members and trade union affiliates in the UK 

who have together raised almost £100,000 so far for much needed medical aid

 to help Cuba’s health services with Covid-19 treatments and vaccination programes.
