파란만장 역사의 몰타

몰타 라 발레타 로터리 클럽 연사는 몰타 대학  Prof, Joseph Brincat였다.

몰타는 파란만장한 역사와 여러 나라의 침략을 받았기에 언어, 지명도

여러 번 바뀌는 수난을 겪은 나라다. 

국기는 4번 바뀌고 침략은 수도 없이 당했다.

아랍, 이태리, 프랑스, 영국 등

언어도 아라비아 언어와 이태리어, 이제는 영어를 사용한다. 

몰타가 왜 이런 침략이 많았는가는 섬이며 군사기지도 좋았던 이유다.

가장 긴 속국이 영국령이었으며  150년간이었다.

지리적으로 몰타는 각국과 연결되는 통로로 좋은 이유도 있다.

지금도 유럽인의 별장지로 각광받는 이유는 온후한 날씨다.

그럼에도 몰티즈는 자국에 대한 자부심이 대단하다.

인구 50만, 유럽 연합 국가이며 영어 사용한다는 장점이 대단한 위력이다.
