쿠바

쿠바 공화국은 카리브해의 대앤틸 제도(서인도 제도 일부)에 위치한 라틴 아메리카의 공화제 국가이다.수도는 하바나.

쿠바 본섬과 그 주변의 도서로 이루어진 섬나라. 윈드워드 해협을 사이에 두고 동쪽으로 이스파뇰라섬의 아이티와 도미니카공화국이, 남으로는 영국령 케이맨제도와 자메이카가 존재한다.서쪽으로는 유카탄해협을 사이에 두고 멕시코의 유카탄반도와 북쪽은 플로리다해협을 사이에 두고 북쪽으로 145 떨어진 미국합중국 플로리다주(플로리다반도)와 마주보고 있다.북동쪽에는 바하마나 영국령 택스·카이코스 제도가 존재한다.

필리핀 루손 섬 정도의 면적을 가진 섬나라로 지리적으로는 북아메리카에 포함되며 넓은 의미의 중앙아메리카에도 포함된다.남북 아메리카 대륙간 및 라틴아메리카와 유럽을 잇는 요로에 위치하고 있다.미국합중국이란 '미국의 뒷마당'으로 불릴 만큼 관계가 깊었지만 쿠바 혁명으로 남북 아메리카 대륙에서 처음으로 반미·친소련의 사회주의 정권이 1959년 성립. 그 후 '카리브에 떠 있는 붉은 섬'으로 표현되기도 한다.

Cuba is a country comprising the island of Cuba as well as Isla de la Juventud and several minor archipelagos. Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean where the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean meet. It is east of the Yucatán Peninsula (Mexico), south of both the U.S. state of Florida and the Bahamas, west of Haiti and north of both Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Havana is the largest city and capital; other major cities include Santiago de Cuba and Camagüey. The area of the Republic of Cuba is 110,860 square kilometres (42,800 sq mi) (109,884 square kilometres (42,426 sq mi) without the territorial waters). The island of Cuba is the largest island in Cuba and in the Caribbean, with an area of 105,006 square kilometres (40,543 sq mi), and the second-most populous after Hispaniola, with over 11 million inhabitants.

Culturally, Cuba is considered part of Latin America. It is a multiethnic country whose people, culture and customs derive from diverse origins, including the aboriginal Taíno and Ciboney peoples, the long period of Spanish colonialism, the introduction of African slaves and a close relationship with the Soviet Union in the Cold War.

Cuba is a sovereign state and a founding member of the United Nations, the G77, the Non-Aligned Movement, the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States, ALBA and Organization of American States. The country is a regional power in Latin America and a middle power in world affairs. It has currently one of the world's only planned economies, and its economy is dominated by the exports of sugar, tobacco, coffee and skilled labor. According to the Human Development Index, Cuba has high human development and is ranked the eighth highest in North America, though 67th in the world It also ranks highly in some metrics of national performance, including health care and education. It is the only country in the world to meet the conditions of sustainable development put forth by the WWF.

キューバ共和国は、カリブ海の大アンティル諸島（西インド諸島の一部）に位置する、ラテンアメリカの共和制国家である。首都はハバナ。

キューバ本島とその周辺の島嶼からなる島国。ウィンドワード海峡を隔てて東にはイスパニョーラ島のハイチとドミニカ共和国が、南には英領ケイマン諸島とジャマイカが存在する。西はユカタン海峡を挟んでメキシコのユカタン半島と、北はフロリダ海峡を隔てて北に145km先のアメリカ合衆国フロリダ州（フロリダ半島）と向かい合う。北東にはバハマや英領タークス・カイコス諸島が存在する。

フィリピンのルソン島ほどの面積を持つ島国で、地理的には北アメリカに含まれ、広義の中央アメリカにも含まれる。南北アメリカ大陸間、及びラテンアメリカとヨーロッパを結ぶ要路に位置している。アメリカ合衆国とは「アメリカ合衆国の裏庭」とも呼ばれるほど関りが深かったが、キューバ革命により、南北アメリカ大陸で初めて反米・親ソ連の社会主義政権が1959年に成立。その後は「カリブに浮かぶ赤い島」と形容されることもある
