아일랜드에 인도인이 몰려온다.

더블린은 요즘 인도인이 부쩍 많이 보인다.

나의 주변에도 거의 대부분이 인도인이다.

아일랜드 정부가 아일랜드의 민족성에 대한 상세한 자료를 수집하지 않기 때문에

인구 추정치는 다양하며, 비 중국계 아시아인들은 일반적으로

개별 남아시아 국가 출신의 사람들을 기반으로한 그룹이 아닌한 범주로 분류

추정에 따르면 남아시아 민족의 사람들이 아일랜드 인구의 약 1~3%를 차지한다고 한다.

아일랜드-인도 의회는 아일랜드에 약 91,520명의 인도 태생의 사람들이 있다고 추정한다.

아일랜드에 정착한 최초의 남아시아인 중 일부는

1980년대 후반과 1990년대 초에 의사로 왔다.

아일랜드는 오랫동안 의사와 간호사가 부족했는데,

부분적으로는 토착 의사의 이민으로 인해 많은 외국인 의료진을 고용하고 있다.

대부분의 외국인 의료진은 인도와 파키스탄 출신이다

이것은 아마도 유럽과 서양에서 영어, 생활 수준, 급여, 기회 및

새로운 삶을 사용하여 아일랜드에 끌리는 많은 수의 의료 졸업생들 때문일 것이다.

하지만 현재는 많은 대학들이 1년 코스로 IT분야의 학생을 양성하고 취업을 권장하고

있다. 중국계보다는 인도계가 아일랜드는 많다는 새로운 아시아인 터전이다.

 

 

As the Irish government does not collect detailed data on ethnicity 

in Ireland, population estimates vary, and non-Chinese Asian people are generally grouped

 in one category rather than groups based 

on people from individual South Asian countries. 

Estimates say that people of South Asian ethnicity make up around

 1 to 3% of Ireland's population. The Irish-India Council estimates 

that there are approximately 91,520 Indian-born people in Ireland.

Some of the first South Asians to settle in Ireland came as doctors 

in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Ireland has long had a shortage of doctors 

and nurses, partially due to the emigration of native doctors,

 and therefore hires many foreign medical staff. 

Most of the foreign medical staff come from India and Pakistan. 

This is probably due to the large numbers of medical graduates 

in those countries who are attracted to Ireland 

by its use of the English language, living standards, salaries, 

opportunities and new lives in Europe and the western.
