보스턴 하버드 스퀘어

보스턴은 센트럴을 기점으로 하버드, MIT가 나뉜다.

그리고 찰스강 너머로 센트럴 파크 타운이 나온다.

특히 하버드 스퀘어는 하버드 대학과 케네디 스쿨이 있어 매우 유명하다.

기숙 단지와 학생들이 주로 거주하며 빅토리아식 건물들이 즐비하다.

필자도 이곳에 살았기에 매우 친근한 동네다. 

 

하버드 스퀘어(Harvard Square)는 미국 매사추세츠주 케임브리지 

중심 근처의 매사추세츠 애비뉴(Massachusetts Avenue), 

브래틀 스트리트(Brattle Street), 

존 F. 케네디 스트리트(John F. Kennedy Street)가

 교차하는 곳에 위치한 삼각형 광장이다.

"하버드 스퀘어(Harvard Square)"라는 용어는 캠브리지의 역사적인 중심지인

교차로를 둘러싼 비즈니스 지구와 하버드 대학을 묘사하는 데에도 사용된다.

하버드 대학의 역사적 중심지인 하버드 야드(Harvard Yard)에

인접한 광장(때때로 지역적으로 불림)은 하버드 학생들은 물론

케임브리지 서부 지역 주민들과 서부 및 북부 지역 주민들을 위한

상업 중심지 역할을 한다.

보스턴 교외 지역. 더 스퀘어(The Square)에는

주요 MBTA 레드 라인 지하철이자 버스 교통 허브인 하버드 역이 있다.

"하버드 스퀘어"라는 이름은 한 블록 떨어진 브래틀 스퀘어(Brattle Square)와 

인근 케임브리지 커먼(Cambridge Common)을 포함하여 각 방향으로 

여러 블록에 걸쳐 이 교차로를 둘러싼 전체 동네를 나타낼 수도 있다.

커먼(The Common)은 운동장, 야구장, 독립 전쟁과 관련된 여러 기념물이 있는 공원 지역이다.

 

Harvard Square is a triangular plaza at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue, 

Brattle Street and John F. Kennedy Street near the center of Cambridge, Massachusetts,

 United States. The term "Harvard Square" is also used to delineate the business district

 and Harvard University surrounding that intersection, which is the historic center of Cambridge.

Adjacent to Harvard Yard, the historic heart of Harvard University,

the Square (as it is sometimes called, locally) functions as a commercial center 

for Harvard students, as well as residents of western Cambridge,

 the western and northern neighborhoods and the inner suburbs of Boston. 

The Square is served by Harvard station,

 a major MBTA Red Line subway and a bus transportation hub.

The name "Harvard Square" can also refer to the entire neighborhood surrounding

 this intersection for several blocks in each direction, including Brattle Square, 

a block away, and the nearby Cambridge Common. 

The Common is a park area with a playground, baseball field,

 and a number of monuments, several relating to the Revolutionary War.

ボストン郊外。広場には、MBTA レッド ラインの主要な地下鉄と

バスの交通ハブであるハーバード駅があります。

「ハーバード スクエア」という名前は、

1 ブロック離れたブラトル スクエアや近くのケンブリッジ コモンなど、

この交差点を囲む各方向数ブロックの地区全体を指す場合もあります。

コモンは、運動場、野球場、独立戦争に関連したいくつかの記念碑がある公園エリアです。
