잉글랜드, 아일랜드 집의 모양

영국이나 아일랜드를 여행하거나 살아 본 사람들은 

붉은 벽돌집을 많이 볼 것이다. 16세기 조지아 시대

시작하여 아직도 붉은 벽돌 그것도 다닥다닥 공간 없는

집을 볼 것이다. 물론 외곽으로 나가면 공간도 있고

가든도 있으며 집의 구조도 다르지만 대부분 도심은 붉은 벽돌이다. 

이 매력 없는 주택도 예전에는 창문에 따라 세금이 높아지고

페치카 숫자에 따라 세금을 물리던 시절이 있었다.

영국이 전쟁을 여러 번 치르다 보니 세금을 거두어들인 결과다. 

 

영국은 예전에 대리석 건물은 궁전이나 박물관 또는 왕족만 사용하게

되어있으므로 서민들의 주택이 붉은 벽돌이며 쥐가 번식하는 시대의

페스트로 인하여 집의 공간을 없앤 결과다. 지금도 내부는 목조이며

외부는 뷹은 벽돌집이 많은 이유다. 겨울에는 따뜻하고 여름에는 시원하다. 

기본적인 건축양식이 이러한 붉은 벽돌인 나라들은 경제적 상황이 어려웠다.

스웬덴이나 노르웨이, 덴마크 역시 같다. 하지만 스위스를 가 보면 

전햐 다르다. 집마다 특성도 모양도 재질도 다른 것을 알게 된다. 

일본은 지진으로 인하여 붉은 벽돌집을 짓지 않는다. 지진에는 매우 위험하다.

이러한 개성 없는  붉은 집이 주로 20억, 30억 한다. 

세계가 인터넷 시대로 도래되면서 편리함도 있지만 부동산 가격과 호텔 가격을

동결시킨 결과도 있다. 어디를 가도 호텔 가격도 높고 집 가격도 폭등했다.

매일 보는 붉은 벽돌집, 별로 호감이 없지만 이곳에서 살고 있다.
