몰타 Marsaskala

몰타는 작은 섬이지만 교통이 복잡하여

시간이 많이 걸리는 곳이 마사스카라다.

마사슬로크와 매우 흡사하여 헷갈리는 지명이다.

 

Marsaskala라고도 쓰여지고 M'Skala로 약칭되는

 Marsaskala는 Marsaskala Creek으로도 알려진 길고 좁은

 만 인 Marsaskala 만 머리에 있는 작은 항구 주변에서 성장한 

몰타 남동부 지역의 해변 마을이다.

만은 북쪽으로 몰타의 남동쪽 모퉁이인 Ras iż-Żonqor에 의해 보호되고

남쪽에는 Ras il-Gżira의 곶에 의해 보호된다.

1953년에 지어진 교구 교회는 성 안나에게 헌정되었으며

축제는 7월 말 Marsaskala에서 거행된다.
원래는 어촌 마을이었으나 점점 늘어나는 인구의 관광지이자

영구적인 고향으로 발전했다.

이 마을의 겨울 인구는 2014년 3월 현재 12,134명이지만

여름에는 약 20,000명으로 늘어난다. 

마사스카라에는 선인장, 레몬 트리와 많은 꽃나무가 있으며 로컬 도시다.

낙후한 느낌과 고요함이 가진 곳이지만 필자는 지양하는 곳 중 하나다.

주택도 매우 오래되고 낡은 돌집들이 즐비하다. 이곳에 가면 몰타어를 

주로 사용하는 원주민이 많이 산다.

 

Marsaskala  also written as Marsascala and abbreviated as M'Skala, 

is a seaside town in the South Eastern Region of Malta 

which has grown around the small harbour at the head of Marsaskala Bay, a long, 

narrow inlet also known as Marsaskala Creek. The bay is sheltered to the north by Ras iż-Żonqor, the southeast corner of Malta, and to the south by the headland of Ras il-Gżira. The parish church, built in 1953, is dedicated to Saint Anne 

and the feast is celebrated at the end of July in Marsaskala.
It was originally a fishing village only but has gradually evolved into a tourist destination

and a permanent hometown for an ever-growing population.

The town has a winter population of 12,134 people as of March 2014,

but swells to around 20,000 in summer.

マルサスカーラ (マルサスカーラとも書かれ、ムスカラと略される) は、

マルタ南東部の海辺の町です。マルサスカーラ湾 

(マルサスカーラ クリークとも呼ばれる細長い湾) の

先端にある小さな港の周りで育ちました。

この湾は、北はマルタの南東の隅にあるラス・イズオンコールによって、

南はラス・イル・グジラの岬によって保護されています。 

1953 年に建てられた教区教会は聖アンナに捧げられており、

7 月末にマルサスカーラで祭りが開催されます。
元々は漁村でしたが、観光地として発展し、

人口が増加する定住地になりました 。

町の冬の人口は 2014 年 3 月時点で 12,134 人でしたが、

夏には約 20,000 人に増加します。
