몰타 라이온즈 클럽 첼리티 브런치

몰타 발레타 호텔에서 브런치로 열린 라이온즈 클럽 행사에 참석했다.

전 세계 140만 명이 넘는 라이온들이 코로나바이러스(COVID-19) 팬데믹 기간 동안 

지역사회 봉사에 박차를 가하고 있다.

이러한 새로운 도전은 우리의 생활 방식을 변화시켰지만

도움이 필요한 사람들을 돕기 위한

우리의 헌신은 100여 년 전 처음 문을 열었을 때와 마찬가지로 강력다.

 

라이온스가 봉사는 간단하다. 1

917년 처음 시작한 이래로 그렇게 해왔다. 

라이온즈 클럽은 개인이 함께 모여 지역 사회와 세상을 개선하기 위해

귀중한 시간과 노력을 기울이는 곳이다.”
국제재단(LCIF)은 국제라이온스협회의 기금 모금/보금 부서다.

로터리 클럽이나 라이온즈 클럽은 세계 각국에 있으면서 기아, 난민, 지역사회 봉사

거의 비슷한 할동을 하지만 로터리 클럽이 먼저 생겼고 역시 시작은 전부 미국이었다.

로터리 클럽은 3명의 변호사로 시작했으나  

 

Melvin Jones는 라이온스 클럽 웹사이트를 포함하여

라이온스 클럽의 창립자로 널리 알려져 있다.

그러나 일부 사람들은 인디애나주 에반스빌의

윌리엄 P. 우즈 박사에게 영광을 돌려야 한다고 생각한다.

그는 1911년 형제 조직이자 비밀 결사로서 "사자 왕실 기사단"을 설립했다.

 

Melvin Jones is widely credited as the founder of the Lions Club, 

including on the Lions Club website. However, 

some feel the honor should be given to Dr. William P. Woods of Evansville, Indiana. 

He founded the "Royal Order of Lions" as a fraternal organization and secret society in 1911.

 

More than 1.4 million Lions around the world are stepping up to serve

 their communities during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

 These new challenges have changed the way we live, 

but our commitment to helping those in need remains as strong 

as it was when we first opened our doors more than 100 years ago.

 is the Fund Raising/Sending arm of Lions Clubs International. 
“Our mission is to empower Lions clubs, volunteers,

and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities,

and support those in need through humanitarian services

and grant impact lives globally,

and encourage peace and international understanding.”
